A ranger is a unique profession in the lands. Unique in that they are very much in tune with the harmony between the inhabitants of the lands and the lands themselves. This gives the ranger the wonderful opportunity to share their knowledge and insight of the lands with others to help them understand the delicate balance between the inhabitants and the lands. They should always strive to teach others to respect the outdoors. They have the power to manipulate elements of the outdoors to the benefit of themselves and those around them. However, with this power comes the responsibility to not abuse or misuse. 1. There is nothing in this world more precious or dear then the life of a being. Honor dictates that we place the life all we see at the top of the pyramid. By showing respect, reverence, and love to all living beings you do yourselves great honor. 2. Knowledge and skills of the outdoors does not come easy to most in the lands. This special gift is not one we rangers should hold to ourselves. We must exercise our duty to bless the lives of others in the lands with this gift. Tracking, guiding, leading, scouting, healing with self foraged herbs will bring you great satisfaction. 3. Although not the most powerful in the lands when it comes to magic, a ranger has much to offer in this realm. From mass colors, the calming of critters, the imbuing of sticks, the breezing of a critter cloud and the sharing of mana a ranger can bestow needed help to many in the lands. 4. The ability to forage for herbs is a tedious task requiring much time and effort. Living so close to nature, they have great command on the ability to perform this much needed task. By foraging or using magic a ranger is next to the empath and cleric when it comes to helping himself/herself and others with the herbs that heal the wounded. 5. A swarm of critters can create great chaos and danger for those present. When possible, a ranger should utilize the forces of nature to eliminate this chaos and danger that all may benefit. 6. A ranger's vine is a very useful tool when hunting. However, it should never be left behind unattended in that it might bring harm to another adventure in the lands. 7. Not all people in the lands feel this way, and this is not limited to the profession of ranger. However, as we all live in the lands together, it is my belief that we should always apply the golden rule in our actions and deeds. We must treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated. The words that come to mind for me are decency and kindness. With this understanding I humbly suggest the following codes of conduct for a ranger in the lands of Elanthia. They are what I try to live by, and what I encourage all rangers to live by. Lord Akono Clandestin |
